You’re So Fly: Courtney Beasley
Get to know Flywheel member, Courtney Beasley, founder of Cobe Marketing!
1. What inspired you to start Cobe Marketing?
The momentum for Cobe started over 10 years ago when I would help friends and non-profits with their brands and online presence as a small side hustle, though I didn’t start charging for my services until 2019 (yikes). I’m so passionate about the power of marketing that I wanted to support companies as they were getting their ventures off the ground while simultaneously learning more about marketing, evolving digital avenues, and industries that I wouldn’t have otherwise been exposed to.
Fast forward to 10+ years of agency experience and 3+ in-house and I recognized a major gap for startups and SMB’s. At that phase of growth, companies often hire one person full-time to handle it all or outsource everything to an agency. It’s rare that the resources exist for both. This is where I realized the opportunity for a different approach. By sharing a fraction of a full-time schedule, I build the plan that best supports my client’s growth while managing the necessary resources to get the job done–with results that matter to the direction of the business. For the right business, it’s a total win-win.
2. What is your favorite part about owning your own business?
I get to help good people grow their dreams. I love working with founder-led companies where the passion to make the world a better place still exists. It’s the best.
3. How do you stay motivated and inspired in your work?
Not dissimilar to most entrepreneurs, I’m inspired by progress. Whether it’s testing and trying something new that blows our expectations out of the water or applying a trusted framework to an unexpected scenario to produce new results. I like being challenged to think outside the box and solve complex problems with new (and sometimes not-so-new) practices.
4. What’s your vision for the future? What professional goals are on the horizon?
In the next 12 months, I’m looking to scale my team! Shameless plug: if you happen to know a passionate, scrappy, hard-working marketer or creative that I should know, please (pretty please) make the intro! I’m looking for paid ads, social media, SEO, and branding solopreneurs who would partner with me on various retainer clients and projects. Beyond that, I’m looking at new revenue stream opportunities with digital assets and may even venture down the path of writing a book. However, I’m not convinced it will be marketing-related quite yet.
5. What advice would you give to others looking to make a positive impact in the startup world?
Know your strengths and show up willing to share them. Everyone has something unique to bring to the table and life is truly too short to not let the world in on your gifts.
6. How do you see yourself contributing to the Flywheel community and supporting other members?
I love to brainstorm, workshop, and help shine a different colored light on any business challenge. If you have an upcoming pitch/presentation, are brainstorming new revenue channels or audiences for your company, or just want a new perspective on something you’ve been noodling for a while, I’m all ears!
7. How has your time at Flywheel and the community here helped you reach personal and professional goals?
I’ve been looking forward to this location opening for years (s/o Peter, Fred, and the whole team for making it happen). This is my first time making space for my work out of the house and it brings a completely new perspective on how I spend my time and my definition of “possible”. Being surrounded by other teams that I’m inspired by like YPK, Wonder, Sagacity, the Hill Institute (and so many others) brings more meaning to my work every day. I’m excited to connect with more members in 2025 and see what adventures a new year has in store for our businesses and beyond.
